NORTHBROOK, Ill., July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- There are times when parents need to know the whereabouts of their kids. When their daughter or son forgets to text that they've arrived safely to a friend's house. If their teen driver has a flat tire or breaks down while on the road. If the unthinkable happens and their young driver has an accident.
According to the Journal of Alcohol, Drugs and Driving, teens are more likely than older drivers to underestimate dangerous situations or not be able to recognize hazardous road situations. Research from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) shows teens 16 to 19 years old are also more likely to have motor vehicle crashes than among any other age group.
"Parents want to know their kids are safe whenever they leave the house and especially when they get on the road," said Pam Dufour, Allstate president of the roadside services business. "We care about the safety of teens and their families. So, we're making roadside assistance services available through a new safety app called Family Kuvrr."
Signature Motor Club, a subsidiary of Allstate, has signed on as the exclusive roadside assistance provider to ArmourGrid, a new consumer technology company that designed the Family Kuvrr mobile application. The app is a smart solution for parents to track and monitor their children and families. It makes it easier for families to stay connected in moments when help is needed.
"We're excited to work with ArmourGrid in providing peace of mind to parents whose teen driver finds himself or herself stranded on the side of the road," said Dufour. "We continue to find new and innovative ways to keep people safe and help protect what they own and love. The benefit of the Family Kuvrr app is that it uses a bundled approach to keep families connected in so many ways. It geo-tracks. It monitors social media usage. Now, it will provide a quick and convenient way for users of the app to get roadside assistance help if they need it."
With just a few taps within the Family Kuvrr app, users can digitally access roadside assistance. Drivers can either pay-per-use and request services like a tow, jump start or tire change, or they can sign up for a roadside membership to have at the ready. Once a rescue is requested, drivers can track the location of the tow or service provider from their smartphone and share this information with family and friends.
"We're excited to partner with Allstate's Signature Motor Club to deliver on our promise of providing smart, highly innovative and affordable family safety and security solutions to families," said Sanjeev Arora, president & CEO, ArmourGrid, Inc. "By using seamless integration, we are staying true to our mission of delivering a single app to provide at home, at school, at play or on the go safety and peace of mind to families."
