Markets advance as crude oil rises

Rising crude oil prices lifted the markets during the midday with the Dow climbing 86 points to 17,915. Nasdaq gained 20 points to 5,147.

On the upside

Bonso Electronics International (Nasdaq: BNSO) swung to a profit for the six month period ended September 30, 2015.

Shares of Emerge Energy Services (NYSE: EMES) surged ahead of its earnings release tomorrow before markets open.

Unit (NYSE: UNT) reported a smaller than expected loss for the third quarter.

On the downside

Textainer Group Holdings (NYSE: TGH) disappointed with sharply lower third quarter earnings the fell far short of analyst expectations and cut its dividend.

Third quarter earnings for TASER International (Nasdaq: TASR) plunged to miss estimates.

Fidelity National Information Services (NYSE: FIS) reported lower third quarter revenue that fell short of estimates.

In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of 5 to 4 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 3 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 rose 4 points to 2,108. Bitcoin jumped $47 to $397.
